Cav Notes

2012 from Coach Rhue:
November 1--Region Meet
: Our boys had one finisher, Harrison M., a 9th grader who finished 15th and qualified for state with a time of 16:49. The girls finished 5th in the region meet, a heartbreaking 4 points short of qualifying for state. Senior Ariel B. qualified for state by finishing 11th, with a time of 19:43.

October 17--Beach District Meet: "In summary, boys team finished 7th.  All the boys ran very well.  Harrison M. finished 6th overall to earn All District honors.  He started in the lead pack and stayed in contention the entire race.  It was an outstanding race by the freshman.

The girls finished 2nd to a very strong Ocean Lakes team.  Our girls are peaking at the right time and running their best in this championship season.  They ran extremely well as a team.  The girls were led by All District runners Ariel B. and Emma J.  All 5 scoring girls were in the top 20 overall.  We are looking forward to the Eastern Region Championships on November 1 at Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake."

October 13--Norfolk Academy Meet: :“ Great win by the girls this past Saturday.  They ran well as a team and are running with confidence heading into the district meet this week.  Many of the boys set personal bests on Saturday and are excited to compete with the best in the district.”

2012 Season Results: "A solid regular season for both teams. Girls went 9-1 in the district & 14-1 overall.  (I guess 56-2 in the last 4 years isn’t too bad!). Boys went 4-6 in the district & 7-8 overall."

*September 8- Newport News Invitational: " Boys were 11th of 12 teams in the A race.  Harrison M. ran 17:26 (24th overall).

The girls were 4th of 7 teams with Lauren H. leading the way with a 24th place finish in a time of 22:04.  Lauren was followed by 4 freshman.  Our 1-5 split was 25 seconds.  Ariel B. is quickly getting fit after recovering from injury at the end of outdoor."

2011 Season Results
Boys 2-8 in the district, (5-10 overall)

Matt Schwarzer took 1st place in the Fork Union Invitational (9/10- ran 15:27 for 3 miles) and the Chesapeake Schools Invitational (9/24- 16:05 for a full 5000 meters).  He has yet to lose a race this season, as of October 7. Matt won the Boy's Beach District Cross Country Championship in a course record time of 16:04 .49. He beat the defending champ from Landstown by almost 14 seconds. He finished 1st in the Eastern Region Championships in 15:34. Matt went on to finish 4th in the state and 5th in the South Eastern Regional with a time of 15:20. This qualified him to compete in the Nike Nationals in Portland Oregon.

Girls 10-0 in the district, (15-0 Overall),
Beach District Regular Season Champions.
Team champions at the Chesapeake City Schools Invitational (9/24) and the Norfolk Academy Invitational (9/30). The team finished 2nd in the Beach Meet and 2nd in the Eastern Region meet.
