Experience Program "Working Together for Success"
Program Coordinator: Mr. Wayne Varney
Department Chair: Ms. Adrienne James, Work Experience
Program Coordinator
Job Coaches: Jean Rodriquez, Joslyn Hall, Janet Couser,
The Program:
The Work Experience Program is a means of preparing moderately to severely
disabled students for success in the adult world. It is a cooperative
endeavor between the business community and the public school system.
It provides direct on-the-job vocational instruction by a staff member
in all areas necessary for success and is done in a practical work setting.
Student Benefits:
The student receives vocational experiences and training in both the
school and the community settings. The vocational training that the
student receives as he/she progresses through the program helps to produce
conscientious, eager and reliable workers and citizens.
Employer Benefits:
The Work Experience Program provides an opportunity to work with potential
employees. It provides a training program that is reinforced by a job
coach on the actual site. Most importantly, it provides an opportunity
for our students to be instrumental in the development of self sufficient
and useful citizens.
Now in it's twelfth
year, the Princess Anne High School Work Experience Program has proven
once again to be very successful. We are proud to announce this year
that we work at 13 different community job sites and have an enrollment
of 22 students in the program. Being able to place students at a variety
of community settings not only provides the students with the opportunities
to increase their work skills but it also allows the use of generalization
skills vital to a student with mental challenges.
