The purpose of this page is to give you, the student and parent, a more detailed description of our laws in the State of Virginia and to outline the state requirements for student registration at the high school level. We hope this information will help facilitate the registration process.

State Requirements:

• Student must be accompanied by a parent or court appointed guardian and must submit proof of residence (lease or current utility bill from the City of Virginia Beach) when registering.
• A certified birth certificate is required at the enrollment.
• Virginia law also requires that the student’s Social Security number be furnished to the school at the time of enrollment.
• Virginia law requires proof of immunizations for all students.

What to bring:
Students NEW to the division, please bring:

• Proof of residence/address.
• Certified birth certificate.
• Previous school report card.
• Previous school release/transfer sheet.
• Social Security number.
• Current immunization records

Students TRANSFERRING within the division, please bring:

• Proof of residence/address.
• Previous school withdrawal form including immunization information.
