LMC Staff

Library Media Center Staff : Mrs. Washington, Media Assistant; Ms. McAbee, and Mrs. Lane, Media Specialists.

The staff is dressed to celebrate NEA's Read Across America day. This is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.

Facility: The Library Media Center was restored and expanded after the arson fire in September 1995. The LMC has over 9,000 square feet with 31 student computer work stations in the main area, an additional computer lab with 30 work stations, an extensive reference collection and over 18,000 volumes. All work stations are Windows XP, Pentium 4, with DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drives.

Internet Access: Sixty (61) Internet stations with access to the Virginia Beach Public Library catalog and Princess Anne High School catalog.

Services: Class instruction, classroom collection, individual help, repair and maintenance of
audiovisual equipment, videotaping.

Hours: 7:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Computer Program Access from Home:
World Book Online, Gale Resource Center, ProQuest and Grolier Encyclopedia can be accessed on the Internet from home. Students should see a library media specialist for user IDs and passwords.

Circulation Policies:

  • Three (3) items may be checked out for two (2) weeks.
  • Items may be renewed unless requested by another patron.
  • Reference books, newspapers and magazines do not circulate.
  • Book returns are located inside at the circulation desk and outside the main LMC doors.

Passes: No pass is needed before school, between classes, or after 2:14. Passes are required
during the school day from a subject area teacher.

Copy Machine: Copies are available at 10 cents per page.

P. A. Teen Readers : Students interested in joining our book club should see a library media specialist. Members are encouraged to read at least four recently published young adult books from a ten-title list and vote for their favorite. Titles for 2008-2009 Are:The Arrival, The Christopher Killer, The Glass Castle, The Last Knight, Life As We Knew It, Light Years, A Room on Lorelei Street, The Rules of Survival, Scrambled Eggs at Midnight, and The Trap.
