The word of the day is egregious, an adjective meaning extraordinarily bad in some way.
The IRS slapped Mr. Wilson with a fine because of an egregious error he made on his taxes.

SCA/Class Councils
JUNIOR AND SENIOR BOYS:  Powder Puff Field Hockey is just around the corner!  Signups will be May 19th through May 23rd with Miss Durbin in the SCA office (4A, 1B, 2B), in 926 (1A, 2A, 3B, 4B) or 329 (3A).  You will need to have your $10, number, and nickname at that time.  The nickname must be approved by Miss Durbin, so keep them appropriate.  The numbers are given out on a first come first serve basis.  A mandatory rules clinic will be Wednesday, May 28th and the practices are May 29th, June 2nd, 3rd and 4th.  The game is June 5th at 3:45. 

POWDERPUFF COACHES:  Current PA field hockey players that are interested in coaching the boys for the powder puff game need to see Miss Durbin by May 23rd.  If you want a t-shirt, you will need to pay $10 for it. 

SCA:  If you are interested in being an appointed officer for SCA, grab a form from the SCA door!  Applications are due by 2:30 TODAY!

SENIORS:  Prom Tickets will be available from May 12- May 23.  Tickets will be available from 6:55- 7:15 and during the lunch break in the foyer. Each ticket is $50.00. If you are bringing a guest who is not a PAHS student, you must have a signed and approved permission form on file with Mrs. Briscoe or Mrs. Holleman. The prom is on May 30th from 8 until midnight at the Oceanfront Hilton.  Starting on May 14 you may purchase tickets before classes begin  9:20- 9:45-  IN PORTABLE 15 (near the student parking lot).
Senior Day is coming up!  If you have pictures of yourself or friends who are seniors at PA, and want them included in our senior slide show, please e-mail them to your sponsors- Deborah.briscoe@vbschools.com or Lois.Holleman@vbschool.som.
JUNIORS:  If you would like to be an appointed officer for next year's Senior Class, pick up an application form from Mrs. Cosimano in Room 907.  Forms are due TOMORROW.

RELAY FOR LIFE:  Our next meeting is May 21st

IB NEWSLETTER:  We will be having our final meeting to plan the last issue of the newsletter next Thursday, May 15th, at 2:30 in room 214.  This meeting should be very brief, so please try to attend!

Teams
CHEERLEADING:  There will be a short meeting on Tuesday, May 13 for anyone interested in showing their spirit as a cheerleader in the 2008-2009 school year! The meeting will be in room 746 at 2:30pm. EVERYONE is encouraged to attend to find out all the exciting details and opportunities that await next year's squad!

School updates
SOS:  Citywide SCA is sponsoring a drive for soldiers overseas.  We are collecting powdered drink packets and new chapsticks.  Please contribute to the drive and support our soldiers.  Supplies can be dropped off at the SCA office through Wednesday (5/14).

All participants in the Mr/Ms. PA must turn in their outstanding ticket money and/or t-shirt money owed to Mrs. Walck or Ms. Faison by Friday, May 9th.

LET’S STUFF THE STADIUM CAVS for the Girls and Boys Varsity Soccer Senior Night on Tuesday, May 13th against Kellam!  The girl’s game starts at 5:15 and the boy’s game will follow!  Show your PA pride and wear red, white, and blue!
 
SPRING FIESTA:  The SCA is sponsoring SPRING FIESTA on Monday, May 19th at 3:30 on the back practice field.  Please come out and celebrate the warm weather and end of the school year with music, games, and food.  Drinks and hotdogs will be provided, but we ask that you bring a snack to share!  There is no cost to attend!  Following the fiesta, the first round of Beach District Soccer will be in the stadium!

The JUNIOR CLASS is having a car wash this Saturday, May 10 at the Shell Station on Virginia Beach Blvd and Constitution.  Bring your car out for a cleaning and help support the Junior Class.

STUDENTS: ALL MARCH AND APRIL BOOKS ARE DUE IMMEDIATELY! ASSESSMENT FORMS WILL BE TURNED INTO THE OFFICE MAY 28TH FOR ALL BOOKS NOT RETURNED. PLEASE USE THE BOOK RETURN BOX OUTSIDE THE LIBRARY DOORS IF WE ARE CLOSED FOR TESTING. THANKS J
The Deadline for the Cavalier Award applications has been extended to next Wednesday, May 14th.

Congresswoman Thelma Drake is looking for rising juniors and seniors to become summer interns during as part of her election campaign.  Talk to your social studies teacher or see your guidance counselor for additional information

Seniors If you are planning on attending TCC and have not filed out your FAFSA yet please come and see Mrs. Phillips in guidance.

The Virginia Junior Miss Scholarship is currently seeking applications for rising high school senior girls for the 2009 Virginia Junior Miss Program.  This is not a beauty pageant, but a program that seeks to recognize, reward and encourage excellence in education.  Please see your counselor for additional information. 

The 2008 edition of the Peerage (yearbook) will be here soon! You can only place your order at school and the price will be $65.00.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. A. James or E. Ouellette.

Applications for the civics seal are available in your senior social studies course and the guidance office; they are due to your counselor by May 16th!  

Seniors buy your tickets to the all night Graduation Party at the security desk. Tickets are $40.  The party this year will be a cruise on the Spirit of Norfolk followed by fun & games at Jillian’s @ Waterside. You will have a chance to win a brand new Saturn Astra donated by Saturn of Virginia Beach.
